LIFE IN GOD
In contrast to traditional spirituality's emphasis on life as a journey TO God we shape an understanding of the spiritual life from the perspective of all things being interconnected IN God. From this perspective we reflect on life, prayer and ritual.
THEOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS FOR CONTEMPORARY SPIRITUALITY
Reflections on contemporary shifts in understanding God, Jesus, prayer and who we are in relationship with the mystery we call "God". A major consideration will be freeing ourselves from theological bonds that have bound people into thinking of God as an elsewhere deity and Jesus as the exclusive "gateway" to that deity.
EASTER AND PENTECOST IN A CONTEMPORARY STORY OF THE UNIVERSE
Reflections on the radical shifts of understanding in which we find ourselves today as we move from the dualism in which Easter and Pentecost have been packaged. We will consider how we can bring this new understanding to our Easter Week and Pentecost prayer and rituals.
GOD IS NEAR: A REFLECTION DAY FOR "SENIOR" CHRISTIANS
Many of us have lived most of our lives in the belief that life is a journey to God and that God is basically elsewhere, even though we believe that God is everywhere. This day establishes a solid spirituality for contemplating God-always-with-us.
PRAYING A NEW STORY
The day will reflect on and discuss how we might pray and ritualize when we have moved so far away from traditional Christian thinking (as in the Creed), language (as in the church's official liturgy) and imagery (are we talking to God?).
POSSIBLE WEEKEND PROGRAMS
RESHAPING CHRISTIAN THOUGHT AND IMAGINATON
We are living through the greatest shift ever in Christian thinking as we discard outdated images and thinking about the universe and God and our connection with both. This program establishes solid ground on which to build contemporary faith. We will reflect on "God", Jesus as revealer of God-with-us, his preaching, his death, the "Resurrection", Pentecost, prayer, sacraments and ritual.
WEEKEND RETREATS, WORKSHOPS
These may be fashioned around various themes such as "forgiveness", Jesus and the call to fullness of life", "prayer", "becoming more adult in living our faith", "challenges and opportunities posed for 'believers" within shifting paradigms", etc.
DIRECTED RETREATS
Michael Morwood, Anne Luther and others are available for directed retreat experiences. Both "live in" and "live at home" arrangements are possible.
